Filming has recently begun on the drama "The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage" (将门独后, 將門獨後, 重生之将门毒后). We previously reported on this here. Dylan Wang and Meng Zi Yi star in the lead roles.

In April, it was announced that Deng Kai and Kong Xue Er had joined the main pair. Following the drama "Pursuit of Jade" (逐玉), in which they played a couple in an abusive relationship, they have become extremely popular both in China and internationally. What’s more, fans passionately ship them.

Deng Kai and Kong Xue Er play a villainous second couple who will cause serious trouble for the lead characters played by Wang He Di and Meng Zi Yi.

Deng Kai takes on the role of Huangfu Hao, a treacherous prince of the hostile Qin kingdom who uses others for his own ends.

Kong Xue Er appears as Shen Yue, the vain, cunning and cruel cousin of the heroine Shen Miao (played by Meng Zi Yi). In order to save her family, she voluntarily enters Huangfu Hao’s service and becomes his concubine.

Their relationship is an alliance built on mutual distrust and calculation, with each trying to use the other for their own schemes. According to the plot, their characters are expected to die.

Fans are already calling for Deng Kai and Kong Xue Er to star together for a third time and finally play a normal, happy couple.

Several behind-the-scenes videos have leaked online, showing that the actors truly have great chemistry on set. They rehearse scenes together, clearly caring about each other’s comfort — checking poses and props, laughing together when something goes wrong. Their interaction feels natural and relaxed.

Meanwhile, on April 22, a gossip blogger in the Chinese drama industry publicly claimed that someone from the cast of "Pursuit of Jade" is secretly dating. Many assumed it was Deng Kai and Kong Xue Er, but no confirmation or denial has been given.
