The day before the tragedy, in one video, the actor appeared exhausted and unwell. In addition, his frequent late-night live streams have been widely discussed online and are also considered an indirect sign of overwork.

The confusion over the location – Hengdian versus Hangzhou – has fuelled some speculation, but the official version points to his home in Hangzhou.

This sparked a wave of rumours that the news might be fake or somehow linked to management games, but there is no official confirmation of this. Most likely, the official Weibo account was accessible to the actor's manager, which is perfectly standard practice in the industry.
