On June 3, 2026, filming begins in Hengdian for the Tencent Video drama "Chronicles of the Twisted World" (错世录, Cuo Shi, 错世, Cuo Shi Lu). It is a costume fantasy wuxia series set in a world of martial artists and various demons.

The leading roles will be played by Ao Rui Peng ("Coroner's Diary", "Moonlight Mystique"), Zhang Miao Yi ("The Substitute Princess's Love", "Sweet Trap") and Deng Kai ("Pursuit of Jade", "The Double Game").

The adaptation of the eponymous novel by popular writer Kuang Shang Jia Kuang is being produced by Galaxy Cool Entertainment with the full support of Tencent Video. The series is planned to consist of 32 episodes of 35 minutes each and is expected to receive the highest S+ rating – it is the only project of this level in Tencent Video's current season, making it a highly notable event.

The heroine, Cui Xiao Xiao (Zhang Miao Yi), is a resourceful swindler with a silver tongue and no principles. She unexpectedly falls into a time loop and is transported 200 years into the past, to a world where magic and demons are real. There, her fate crosses with a prophecy that a great villain and demon will be born into the world. As it happens, the curse falls upon her – a glitch in the wheel of destiny. The girl begins to mutate into a monster.

She meets a seemingly lazy student of a magical school, Wei Ze (Ao Rui Peng). In reality, he is an ancient, powerful being who lost his strength by mistake and is forced to hide under a false name. He sees that the girl's destiny is tied to his own.

At first, he wants to use her to regain his power. And then, of course, he falls in love. Together, they try to find a way to return the heroine to her own time and, in doing so, to correct the distortion of the world that threatens everyone.

Deng Kai will play Qin Ling Xiao, the head of a school of white magic, a noble master of the sword. But driven by jealousy and ambition, he begins to make dark choices and eventually turns to the side of evil, becoming an additional threat to the heroes.

The producers promise a skilful blend of magical action, romantic comedy and a passionate love storyline.

The project was originally planned for 2023 with Zhao Lu Si, but due to her forced withdrawal for health reasons and a major corporate scandal, the management had to revise the initial plans. After nearly two years, filming has resumed.

Currently, fans are concerned about Deng Kai. After the series "Pursuit of Jade", he finally achieved the long-awaited enormous popularity. Offers have been pouring in for the actor, and only those who have acted themselves can fully understand what great happiness this is. But riding this wave of happiness, Deng Kai seems to forget that he is not a superhuman.

We all know what happened to Zhao Lu Si, who had to undergo serious medical treatment. The Chinese filming schedule is no holiday resort – it is more like a coal mine. No matter how beautiful the final images may be, creating them requires gruelling labour that spares no one's health.
