Principal photography has wrapped in Chengdu on the drama "A Love Confession" (告白, Gao Bai).

The series stars Wang Xing Yue ("The Double", "Perfect Match") and Deng En Xi ("Mama Go!", "Melody of Golden Age").

"A Love Confession" is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by popular Chinese writer Ying Cheng. The book tells a love story that has endured for ten years.

Surgeon Xu Sui (Deng En Xi) and pilot Zhou Jing Ze (Wang Xing Yue) first met in high school. Quiet and unassuming, Xu Sui secretly had a crush on the school’s heartthrob, Zhou Jing Ze. Determined to get closer to him, she followed him to the same university, where a chance encounter soon turned into a whirlwind romance. But after a blissful period of first love, a misunderstanding drives the couple apart.

Eight years later, their paths cross again. By then, Xu Sui has become a brilliant surgeon, while Zhou Jing Ze – navigating a difficult stretch in his career – has transferred to a rescue unit. Their long separation becomes a chance for healing and reconciliation.

Filming began in January 2026 and lasted 100 days. Notably, the official casting announcement was only made on February 25, even though a test scene for one of the most anticipated moments – the leads embracing in the snow – had already been shot.

The project has not been without its challenges. Wang Xing Yue himself admitted that initially he struggled with the role of the teenage Zhou Jing Ze, finding it difficult to tap into the necessary "sense of youth." This, despite the actor being just 24 years old.

Wang Xing Yue studied the script meticulously to accurately convey the difference between an immature schoolboy and a seasoned adult man.

Another early hurdle was the public’s mixed reaction to the first released on-set photos. Costumes and the actors’ overall look sparked a wave of criticism from viewers, who found them unsuitable for the characters. However, the production team listened to the feedback, and subsequent footage – in particular, the flight suit looks and a waltz scene filmed on a snowy street – received a much warmer reception.

Aviation-related scenes were shot at a real training base in Sichuan province with the help of professional consultants.

The off-screen chemistry between Wang Xing Yue and Deng En Xi has also drawn keen attention. Numerous behind-the-scenes videos from the set showed a warm and friendly atmosphere: the actors could be seen fooling around and having fun, their interactions adding extra charm and authenticity to their on-screen pairing.

The series is expected to run for 28 episodes and has now entered post-production. The premiere is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 on Hunan TV and the Mango TV platform.
