The drama "The Epoch of Miyu" (蜜语纪) is set to premiere on Tencent Video and iQiyi.

Wallace Chung ("Second Chance Romance", "My Sunshine") and Zhu Zhu ("Why Is He Still Single?", "Sunshine by My Side") star in the lead roles.

The story centers on a wealthy socialite, Xu Miyu, played by Zhu Zhu. Her life is turned upside down on her 10th wedding anniversary. A marriage that seemed perfect turns out to be a sham. She realizes how much energy she wasted on an illusion and how much of herself she lost along the way. Instead of clinging to the shattered pieces of the past, she files for divorce and leaves the family, taking nothing with her.

To survive and start over, the former socialite takes a job as a maid in a luxury hotel. There, her path crosses with the hotel's CEO, Ji Feng, a charismatic and pragmatic leader (played by Wallace Chung).

Ji Feng has a goal – to save the hotel from collapse. Xu Miyu wants to save herself. Their relationship does not begin with the usual romantic clichés. This is the story of two adults who aren't just playing at love, but are forced to solve real work problems daily: rooting out internal corruption at the hotel, defending professional integrity, and proving their right to a place in the sun in the world of big business.

The biggest talking point so far has been the lead duo. Wallace Chung, known as the "king of the genre", at 50 once again slips into the role of an elegant president in a business suit. Viewers have already dubbed him "canned romance" — a nod to the fact that he simply doesn't age. Unlike younger heroes, his character Ji Feng is a mature man with his own history — cynical and calculating, yet capable of deep feelings.

Zhu Zhu, 40, known for her ability to play strong women, reveals a new side of herself. Her character balances on the edge of despair and determination. As critics note, in this project, Zhu Zhu combines fragility with strength, and her transformation from a trapped housewife into a confident woman makes for gripping viewing.

"The chemistry between the actors is simply off the charts," netizens wrote on social media after the release of the first trailers. The scenes of their flirtation and confrontations are filled with real, adult tension. Judging by the footage, the director and cinematographers are not afraid to show sensuality.

"The Epoch of Miyu" promises to be a breath of fresh air for the classic "Cinderella and the CEO" genre. It is an honest and sometimes harsh take on a woman's fate in the modern world. There's no room for silly coincidences here — just pragmatism, pain, resilience, and the joy of victory.
