Huang Jingyu («Love Song in Winter», «The Punishment») and Xu Ruohan («The Best Thing», «Go Back Lover») have confirmed their participation in the new drama «Love Story In Summer» (明川有知夏).

Filming will begin on April 14, 2026, in Yunnan Province and will last 93 days. The series is produced by the online platform iQiyi and Jinhui Pictures.

«Love Story In Summer» will tell viewers a story about the fight against poachers in the tropical rainforests of China. The main hero, forest police officer Li Ze Chuan (played by Huang Jingyu), dies while apprehending criminals, but his girlfriend, veterinarian Wen Xia (played by Xu Ruohan), gets a chance to change everything – she unexpectedly travels back in time. Now she has the opportunity to both save her beloved and confront the poachers alongside him.

The director of the drama is Chen Chang, known to audiences for such high-profile projects as «Ambitions of Love» and «Love Story in the 1970s».

The production team had previously considered actresses Jin Chen and Sun Qian for the leading female role, but ultimately chose Xu Ruohan.

«Love Story In Summer» will be the second joint project of Huang Jingyu and Xu Ruohan. Previously, the actors starred together in the popular drama «Our Dazzling Days» (岁月有情时). In that project, their characters - a boxer with a psychological trauma and a female volunteer - went through a difficult journey of healing and mutual support, which resonated strongly with the audience.

Many viewers note that they look great together due to the vivid contrast of their images: Huang Jingyu's masculinity and Xu Ruohan's radiant cheerfulness.

«Love Story In Summer» will not only give viewers a beautiful romantic storyline but will also tell about the importance of nature conservation and introduce them to the difficult and dangerous work of forest police officers.
