On August 17, an interview with Ding Yuxi and Deng Enxi - the leads of the drama "The Road to Splendor" (花开锦绣, Escape to Your Heart) - was released on Tencent Video and the program "Into the Character" (入戏).

During the interview, the actors discussed which scene they believe should become the drama's most memorable one. In their view, it has earned that status.

That scene, it turns out, is a kiss. But what makes it truly iconic is that director Deng Ke approached it with the utmost seriousness.

He handed the actors cheat sheets.

Ding Yuxi recounted with a laugh:

- Have you ever seen a director hand out cheat sheets to actors during a kissing scene? He prepared a very detailed and thorough breakdown for us. When we received it, we were both taken aback. I've never before encountered a director who prints out notes and hands them to the cast. That was his preparation. I later tucked that paper into my script. To me, it reflects the director's dedication — and the entire crew's dedication as well. So when you ask about iconic scenes, I want the seriousness and care we put into our work to make this particular scene iconic.

The host then asked which scene they were referring to. Deng Enxi replied that it takes place after the characters' actual wedding. That episode has not yet aired.

When the host asked what the cheat sheet contained:

Ding Yuxi: Descriptions of movements...
Deng Enxi: ...eye contact, and various small details.
Host: What was your first reaction when you saw it?
Deng Enxi: I quickly processed it and committed it to memory.

The director is certainly very sweet. But honestly, he brought cheat sheets to the wrong people :). These two already have independent creativity at a high level of consciousness :)
