UPD 23.09.2026: Chen Zheyuan, Bai Lu, and Yang Rong have been confirmed as cast members in the series at the iQiyi conference. A poster has been released.

According to teams of both actors, Chen Zheyuan and Bai Lu have been confirmed for the lead roles in the series «Echoes» (朝玉阶, Zhao Yu Jie, Jade Steps at Dawn, The Jade Stairs of Dawn, Jade Steps in the Morning Light).

The official cast announcement will be made on September 23 at the iQIYI conference. The drama’s title may be adjusted.

On the drama’s DramaWiki page, actors Nie Yuan, Feng Shaofeng, Liu Xiaoqing, and Yang Rong are also listed. Their involvement may also be confirmed on September 23. In particular, if Nie Yuan appears in the drama, it will be the second collaboration between Chen Zheyuan and his senior, Nie Yuan, following their excellent pairing in the drama «Dark Night and Dawn».

The producer of «Echoes» is the well-known Yu Zheng, and judging by his reply to users online, filming on the drama will begin in December 2026.

This is a big-budget historical palace S+ project with a completely original script, not an adaptation.

In the story, the heroine travels through time and meets herself.

The action unfolds during the Wei and Jin dynasties. The heroine, Lu Zhaoxi (also known as Yan Zhaozhao), played by Bai Lu, enters the palace and soon discovers that all her ideas about love, friendship, and family collapse under the pressure of intrigue.

Suddenly she is transported 20 years into the future, where she meets «Consort Yu» — a woman whose methods and behavior disgust her. They become rivals, but after going through palace crises together, they develop a liking for each other. The main twist is that «Consort Yu» is probably Lu Zhaoxi herself. This is a story about confronting oneself, about how a person can become someone they once hated, and about finding a path to reconciliation.

Chen Zheyuan plays Tu Yin, the male lead, a cruel and powerful minister.

Yang Rong plays Meng Ningshuang, also known as «Consort Yu». Her involvement has already been officially confirmed by the producer.
