Filming for the fantasy drama «Thousand Nights Tales» (Qian Ye Qi Tan, 千夜奇谭) officially began on August 20, 2026, in Hengdian.

The series is an adaptation of the hit manhua «Psychic Princess», a property that has amassed 463 billion views on Tencent Comics and drawn 150 million viewers for its anime adaptation on Bilibili.

At the helm is director Zhao Yi Long, known for his work on the drama «Love Game in Eastern Fantasy». The screenplay was written by Ji Sang Rou and Ding Lu, who previously collaborated on «New Life Begins» and «My Heroic Husband».

The lead roles are played by Li Landi («The Starry Love», «Filter») and He Yu («Blossoms Of Power», «Be Passionately in Love»). The supporting cast includes He Luo Luo, He Qiu, Wu Han Kun, and Wang Li Kun.

The project was initially scheduled to start production in late May but was postponed twice – first to July 30, then to August 15. Chinese media attributed the delays to financing issues and rumors of unpaid salaries. The biggest talking point, however, was the casting of the male lead. According to local press, Deng Wei was the first choice for the role but withdrew following a dispute over billing order. Wang Xing Yue was subsequently approached but failed to reach an agreement with producers. The part ultimately went to He Yu, who has seen a surge in popularity following his acclaimed performance in «Blossoms Of Power».

The shoot is expected to last approximately 100 days.

The story follows Zhao Yi Ning (Li Landi), a video game designer who unexpectedly finds herself transported into the very game world she created, where she becomes the calculating bride Qian Yun Xi. Her mission: to assassinate her husband, the half-demon Ye Yu Ming (He Yu), who bears an uncanny resemblance to her tyrannical former boss. Success means returning to the real world. However, Ye Yu Ming turns out to be immortal, and as her endless assassination attempts fail, the heroine gradually uncovers his true fate and identity.

Fan clubs of the lead actors have organized flower walls, subway advertisements, food trucks, and other events in support of the production.

Taking advantage of the fan meeting, Li Landi celebrated her birthday early (her actual birthday is September 2, but she will be too busy filming then). A beautiful setup and cake were prepared, and fans warmly welcomed the star, who expressed her gratitude for their love and support.

An official release date has not yet been announced. The series is expected to consist of 30 episodes and will air on Tencent Video.
