On July 5, 2026, the 36‑episode youth heartwarming melodrama «Road To Success» (灿如繁星) premiered on iQiyi. The lead roles are played by Yu Shu Xin («My Journey to You», «Love Between Fairy and Devil») and Chen Jing Ke («The Long Way Back», «Summit of Our Youth»). The project was filmed throughout 2025 and is adapted from the novel «Walk on the narrow path» (狭路) by writer Chang Er.

The story centres on psychologist Lin Wanxing, portrayed by Yu Shu Xin, who returns to her hometown after a series of personal setbacks and takes up a post as the equipment manager at a senior high school.

Her mysterious tenant turns out to be Wang Fa (Chen Jing Ke) – a former coach of a British football club who has come back to China to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of his talented young protégé.

By a twist of fate, Lin is tasked with reviving the school’s disbanded football team. Wang Fa steps in as coach and leads the squad to their first victory. Together, they begin preparing the teenagers for the finals of a youth football tournament and their college entrance exams.

This is a story about how the road to the top is never easy, and that perseverance will eventually bear fruit.

Filming took place in the city of Quanzhou in Fujian province and its surrounding areas. The main locations included university campuses, as well as city parks and waterfront promenades. The historic Xunpu district added a distinctive visual touch to the production.

Within three hours of the first episode’s release, iQiyi’s in‑house popularity index surpassed 6,000 points, and by the end of the first day it had reached 7,415. According to media reports, this marks the best result for a modern romantic drama on the platform in the past five years. On premiere day, the series topped the Maoyan online drama popularity chart and secured first place on Douban’s list of most‑discussed projects.

The number of viewers who joined the "cloud cinema" initiative (a collective viewing system with paid fan seats) hit 450,000 on the very first day, setting a new annual record for the platform. Yu Shu Xin’s fan communities invested more than 3 million yuan to support the project, purchasing over 100,000 viewer slots.

Despite the strong viewership figures, advertising integration got off to a modest start – only two commercials aired at launch, noticeably trailing the performance of a competing project that debuted on the same day («Love for You» with Song Wei Long and Zhang Jing Yi). As the show’s popularity grew, advertisers quickly began buying additional placements.

For the actors, the project has become a notable milestone in Yu Shu Xin’s career. The actress stepped away from her usual "sweet girl" image, embodying on‑screen the role of a restrained, somewhat cool and observant female scientist. Her co‑star Chen Jing Ke even obtained a coaching licence to authentically portray a football trainer. His chiselled looks and athletic build proved to be a perfect match for the image of a professional mentor.
