The premiere date has been set for the drama «The Road to Splendor» (Escape to Your Heart, 花开锦绣, Escape to the Moon). 

The series features Ding Yuxi («Archives: The Nanyang Mystery», «White Cat Legend») and Deng Enxi («Mama Go!», «Melody of Golden Age») in the leading roles.

Set during the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), the production aims to break away from the conventional costume drama formula by adopting a “road-movie” narrative structure. 

The story unfolds through a journey that gradually reveals the characters’ true natures and forges the central relationships.

The plot kicks off with a dramatic incident. The heroine, Fu Tingyun (played by Deng Enxi), a young woman from a noble family, finds herself at the centre of a scandal when she is falsely accused of having an affair with her cousin during marriage negotiations. The damage to her family’s reputation threatens to bring the gravest consequences.

Desperate, Fu Tingyun turns to an unlikely ally – a private salt merchant named Zhao Lin (played by Ding Yuxi). 

Though of humble origins, he is ambitious and resolute. The pair flee the city, posing as a married couple, and thus begins their long and perilous journey. 

The road is fraught with dangers: they must evade pursuit, endure hunger, fend off bandits, and navigate betrayal. 

As the story progresses, its scope broadens, and the protagonists find themselves entangled in a web of corruption within the salt trade that they must unravel.

«The Road to Splendor» is scheduled to premiere on 9 August 2026 on Tencent Video and WeTV.
