Chinese dramas and films

On September 13, 2026 filming had wrapped on the drama «Love You in the Dark» (Love You in the Dark, 红掌).

The drama stars Guan Xiaotong («Romance in the Alley», «Dazzling») and Chen Xingxu («Love Between Lines», «The Starry Love»).

Huang Tien Jen («Amidst a Snowstorm of Love», «Sniper Butterfly») directs.

The drama tells the story of psychologist Lu Si Zhou (Chen Xingxu) and young artist Meng Lu Sha (Guan Xiaotong). They met on a rainy night, left together to study in the UK and spent eight years together, projecting the image of a perfect couple. He is cold and elegant, she is mysterious and talented. However, an unknown girl's suicide shatters their harmony. Gradually, Meng Lu Sha begins to uncover her fiancé's hidden secrets. Beneath the sweet mask of an ideal relationship lies a tangle of lies.

Filming took place in Wuxi. Among the locations were the Wangxiangcheng shopping complex, Bogong Island, Lake Taihu, Wuxi Zoo and various cultural sites. Since the heroine is an artist by profession, some scenes were shot in local art galleries.

According to screenwriter Jiu Ye Hui, Guan Xiaotong was the first to read the project. Jiu Ye Hui told her the story before the script was even written. The actress spoke with young artists, studied painting techniques and even painted a picture herself for the role. Chen Xingxu read the script in one sitting and immediately described the character as truly special.

After the wrap was announced, online attention focused not so much on the completion of production as on the released materials featuring the two leads. Among them are photographs of Chen Xingxu holding Guan Xiaotong in his arms, as well as shots of embraces and intense gazes. The actors accompanied the post with synchronized captions: «爱是一本帐，花瓣是第一页». The phrase can be loosely translated as «Love is a ledger, and the petal is the first page». The petal plays on the drama's title, which in Chinese, 红掌, means the red anthurium flower. In Russian, this flower is popularly called  «men's happiness», «fire tongue». Its red petals resemble a heart.

Guan Xiaotong and Chen Xingxu had worked together before, but a very long time ago - 20 years earlier. They were still children and appeared in the series «Another Lifetime of Fate: The Legend of Meng Li Jun» (孟丽君传奇, 再生緣), where they played the younger versions of the main characters.

The drama «Love You in the Dark» is expected to air in 2027 on Tencent Video.
