On June 3, 2026, filming kicked off in Hengdian for the fantasy drama "Chronicles of the Twisted World" (错世录, Cuo Shi, 错世, Cuo Shi Lu, The Wrong Era, 错世) from Tencent Video. The project is a large-scale S+ production, the only one of its kind on the platform this season. The lead roles are played by Ao Rui Peng ("Coroner's Diary", "Moonlight Mystique") and Zhang Miao Yi ("The Substitute Princess's Love", "Sweet Trap").

The drama's plot, based on a novel of the same name, revolves around time travel. The heroine, Cui Xiao Xiao (Zhang Miao Yi), a clever con artist with a sharp tongue, is accidentally transported 200 years into the past. There she meets a young man named Wei Jie (Ao Rui Peng), who is actually an ancient, powerful being (the Ancient Fire Emperor – Lord of Demons) who mistakenly lost his power. By a twist of fate, Cui Xiao Xiao becomes Wei Jie's mentor, even though he is destined to turn into a great demon and destroy the world. Together, they embark on a journey not only to find a way to return the heroine to her own time but also to correct the distortion of the world that threatens everyone. Ao Rui Peng and Zhang Miao Yi have a height difference of about 28 cm (11 inches), which enhances the cute contrast between the "petite teacher and the sly student."

Contrary to earlier reports, Deng Kai ("Chasing Jade") will not appear in the drama. The role of Qin Ling Xiao, the head of the White Magic School and a noble sword master, will be played by Cai Zheng Jie ("Mo Li", "The Blood of Youth: Quest of Heroic Hearts"). His character, driven by jealousy and ambition, begins to make dark choices and ultimately turns to the side of evil, becoming an additional threat to the heroes. Paired opposite him will be Rao Jia Di (known for "True Detective Mr. Qin 2").

The opening ceremony took place in Hengdian. Director Chen Dan, together with the main crew, conducted a traditional Buddhist ceremony offering respects to the four directions. The atmosphere on set was friendly, with the main slogan being "safe production, happy creativity."

On the first day of filming, short video clips featuring the lead actors were released.

Filming is taking place entirely in Hengdian and is expected to last 110–130 days. A total of 40 episodes are planned.

The premiere of the drama "Chronicles of the Twisted World" is expected on the Tencent Video platform in 2027.
